When I was 15, I really love drawing abstract stuffs. Probably cause I didn’t had so much distractions in the past e.g my playstation, my dvd player etc only had my pen, pencil and sketchbook and I just kept doodling all day. As I grew up in the ever fast paced creative industry, I realize I lack patience in this practice, as time = money, everything is about deadlines and more deadlines. Everything revolves around timelines and technology. My art has gotten much less humane. With this piece I hope to reminiscence the past, where time is just an imagination and my emotions captain my rationality. It’s been 15 years.

The experience I had when coming out with this piece was totally surreal. I had many flashbacks of my young days, I remembered the art teachers who have taught me, the blue walls of my room in Aljunied where I used to stay and spend so many years drawing, the smell of my school’s art room where I spent hours doing batik drawing, it was an awesome experience. Huge sense of accomplishment, knowing I still have it in me after forsaking it for 15 years.

I’d like to dedicate this piece to the late Mrs Leicester. Thank you for teaching me everything I know, sorry I wasn’t there at the time of your passing, you will live forever in my art.
